George Morrison Wilson, Jr.

WEAVERVILLE – George Morrison Wilson, Jr., age 59, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 6, 2024.  He was born in Buncombe County where he lived most of his life.  He was a builder and built many homes in Buncombe County and recently retired to Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his father, George M. Wilson, Sr.; mother, Rosa Lee Wilson; granddaughter, Cecileigh Garris and a nephew, Clint Harkleroad.

He enjoyed meals with family and friends and loved to laugh.  George loved the Lord, his family and his church.  He was a member of Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church.  In his spare time, he enjoyed playing with his race car and working on automobiles. George was known as the “go to” person for most everything.  If you had a question about something, George was the person to call.  If he didn’t know the answer, he would find out for you.

He is survived by his daughters, Cyndal Rhodes and Heather Wilson; a son, George Robert Wilson (Claudia); and sisters, Kay Harkleroad (Dean) and Sandy Ray (Steve); a brother, Pastor Philip E. Wilson (Theresa); grandchildren, Kaleb, Kaylee, Emily, Dominic and Sarah; and a special aunt, Louise Harwood.  He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a host of great friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church, 90 Blackberry Inn Road, Weaverville, NC 28787 with Reverend Brad Willis and Reverend Homer Tweed officiating.   A private burial was held at Maney Branch Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
