George was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an SP4 and a member of the 82nd Reconnaissance Company of the 2nd Armored Division.

He was always willing to lend a helping hand to help with a Model A problem. He loved NASCAR and was a David Pearson fan. George also was an upholsterer for over 50 years and in later years was owner/operator of his own business. He was a member of Brookstone Church (and formerly Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church).
He was the son of the late E.J. “Shorty” and Ida Belle Ramsey Williams and husband to the late Melba Woody Williams whom he was married 70 years. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Glenda Bailey and Helen Kuykendall.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Leisa Poitinger (Keith); sons, Tracy Williams (Teresa) and Gregg Williams (Kelly); grandchildren, Brandon Hawkins (Molly), Brittany Byers (Greg), Christopher Williams (Jessica), and Sarah Angus (Josh); and great grandchildren, Camden, Jordan and Hudson Byers, Elliott Williams, and Sabrina, Kathryn and William Angus; and Farrah and Brock Hawkins.
