George W. Robinson

WEAVERVILLE – George W. Robinson, age 88, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 31, 2025.

George was born on March 18, 1937, in Yancey County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most all his life. He retired from William M. Bird Company as a truck driver. He bowled with the Christian Church League for over 40 years and was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Alexander where he was the choir leader for many years.

He was the son of the late Melvin Wilson and Zelda Elkins Robinson. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Pansy Angell, Stella Fox, and June Rhodes; and brothers, Perry Lee, G. D., Claude and Boyd Robinson.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Frances Pegg Robinson; his daughters, Patricia Coates and husband, Junior, and Karen Brown and husband, Scott; a son, Richard Robinson and wife, Annette; a sister, Maude Bradley; three grandchildren, Wesley Robinson and wife, Sabrina; Matthew Robinson and Megan Brown.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Reverend Roy McPeters officiating. A private burial will be held at Clark’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:15 pm to 2:15 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
