George Edward Mieloch, 74, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Solace in Asheville after a brief illness.
A native of Shrewsbury, NJ, George was the son of the late John and Jean Mieloch. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Mieloch; a brother, Frank Mieloch; a sister, Jean Mieloch; and a step son, R. J. Schneider.
George graduated from Red Bank Regional in 1968. He served our country in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1970 until 1976. George attended Spring Garden College for two years and received his Associates Degree in Architecture.
He retired from the Shewsbury Police Department as a Lieutenant in 1997. While in New Jersey, George was a member of the Chevrolet Classic Car Club. After retirement, George relocated to Weaverville, NC. He then worked in security for the Biltmore House and the Grove Park Inn. George followed that up by working for Car Quest/Advanced Auto Parts as a delivery driver. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.
In his spare time, George enjoyed playing golf and traveling with his wife, Marie. They were very fond of their visits to Mexico and have a residence there.
George also belonged to the Wag Bar in Weaverville where he enjoyed taking his beloved Lily. She provided a lot of comfort for George over the past several years.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Mieloch; daughter, Kelly Mieloch; two grandchildren, Marley and Maya; step daughter, Jackie Attanasio (Ralph); five step grandchildren, Anthony, Daniel, Nick, Allie and Jack; two brothers, John Mieloch (Belle) and Robert Mieloch (Kim); sister in law, Joy Bottger. George also leaves behind a host of dear friends and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7:00pm until 8:30pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. A funeral service will begin at 8:30pm. Rev. Ray Keiss will officiate. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
