Eugene Rice

WEAVERVILLE – Eugene “Cleve” Rice, age 64, of Weaverville, died November 25, 2021, in Madisonville, KY.

Cleve was born June 7, 1957, in Buncombe County to the late Marshall and Ruth Williams Rice; he was a resident of Buncombe County all of his life.

Cleve was a 1975 graduate of North Buncombe High School. He was an EMT with Barnardsville Fire Department and later with Buncombe County EMS. He then went to work with Weaverville Police Department and Weaverville Fire Department. He retired as a Deputy with Buncombe County Sherriff’s Department. In his retirement he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving is his brother, Jerry Rice and wife Susan of Weaverville; nieces, Natalie English, Bridget Huffman, Emily Brooks, and Haylee Rice; several great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends.

There will be a celebration of Cleve’s life held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Brookstone Church, 90 Griffee Rd, Weaverville, NC 28787.
