Estory W. Edwards

Estory W. Edwards, an outstanding cook and a loving member of her family, passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2023, at the age of 91.

Estory was born on February 9th, 1932, in Yancey County. She was the daughter of John and Mary Williams. Estory was married to Tommy Dale Edwards and they were blessed with three children - Eugene, Douglas Vernon, and Larry James.

Estory found her greatest joy in her family. She would cook for her loved ones with immense passion and loved to feed them with her delicious recipes. Her love for cooking was recognized by all who knew her and she became famous for it within her community.

Estory is survived by two children; Eugene Edwards and Larry James Edwards along with his wife Mary; a sister, Estelle Chambers; grandchildren - Nicholas, Travis, and Justin Edwards; Stacey Stasiowski along with her husband Matt; Chris Ellis along with his wife Tanya, and Dawn Ward and her husband Jonathan. Her numerous great-grandchildren number eleven as well as six great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

Preceding Estory in death were her parents, John and Mary Williams; husband, Tommy Dale Edwards; and son, Douglas Vernon Edwards.

Estory's love for her family never faded away. She would often host large reunions where everyone had a chance to catch up on each other's lives while relishing homemade food made by the lady herself.

She touched countless lives through simple gestures like cooking meals that embodied love or sharing stories of childhood memories during the family gatherings. Her legacy will always be remembered as an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who made sure nothing mattered more than spreading warmth with food to all those around her.

A memorial service will be planned for this summer.

May she rest in peace!
