Elizabeth Jane Scharf

ASHEVILLE – Elizabeth Jane Scharf, age 91, of Asheville, formally of Montvale, NJ, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

Mrs. Scharf was born on February 25, 1935, in East Troy, WI, and was the daughter of the late Marvin and Frances Cash Welch. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Scharf who died in 2005 and was also preceded in death by her siblings, Robert, Mary, and Jean. She had been a resident of Buncombe County for more than 25 years and was a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church.

Surviving is her daughter, Christine Currens of New Jersey; sons, Jonathan Scharf and his wife, Kari Dalaker of New Jersey, Thomas Scharf of Florida, and Matthew Scharf and his wife, Hillary of New Jersey; eight grandchildren, Ryan Currens and his wife Victoria, Lauryn Currens and her husband Sean Cooley, Tyler Scharf and his wife Shannon, Meghan Myers and her husband Dan, Maya Scharf, Alexander Scharf, Jared Scharf and Mason Scharf. Elizabeth has three great grandchildren, Declan, Lochlan and Tyler.

Private services will be held at Givens Estates. In lieu of flowers send donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, P.O. Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
