WEAVERVILLE – Donna Lynn McDonald, age 75, of Weaverville, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at her home after a long illness.

She was born on March 10, 1951, in Fayetteville, NC and lived in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Neil Eugene and Mary Elizabeth Giles McDonald and was also preceded in death by her nephew, Dylan Picard.

Donna had several careers in her life: first, she was a social worker for the aged and disabled; then a stock broker with Merrill Lynch; and later a carpenter at Carpentry by Lucy. Donna loved being outside and was a quiet, gentle spirit.

Surviving is her partner of 49 years, Lucy Leigh Nehls; and sister, Mary Neil Picard.
