David Douglas Webb

CANDLER– David Douglas Webb, age 81, of Candler, died Monday, November 13, 2017. David was born September 26, 1936 in Buncombe County to the late Cling Fabe and Lucy Vera Franklin Webb; he was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. David served in the US Army before working at the Bent Creek Experimental Station. He later worked for Security Forces in Orangeburg, SC. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margarete Webb who died in 2016. Surviving are his daughters, Brenda Purvis, Tamara Sprouse and Tonya Parker and husband, Scott; son, David Junior Webb and wife, Vickie; brother, Tony Lynn Webb; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain. West Funeral Home is assisting the family.
