David William Robb

WEAVERVILLE - On Saturday, April 19th, 2025, David William Robb––also affectionately known as “D,” “Big Dave,” “Stork,” “Faj,” “Davey LeRuox,” and most recently as a grandfather, “Beep”––entered heaven the same way he lived his whole life: with grace, love, and of course, music playing. He was 64 years old.

Dave was born in Kittery, Maine as “#5” of 8 of the eventually Minnesota-renowned Robb clan. He grew up in Cottage Grove, Minnesota with a revolving door of family, friends, and good times he proudly cherished. Dave graduated from Mankato State University (now Minnesota State University) with a degree in Business and Economics. He was a collegiate athlete on a full 4-year basketball scholarship, eventually walking on to a 2-year stint with the football team as wide receiver. His performance led to a tryout with the Green Bay Packers––a fact he was humble enough to rarely share.

Never afraid to go his own way, Dave admiringly bent the rules and carved his path as he saw fit. He was an entrepreneur for most of his adult life, eventually founding and running his own electronic payments company, XBS Global. Outside of work, he was a steadfast supporter of adaptive sports, fierce ping pong player, avid golfer, card shark, sunset connoisseur, and at the end of every day, a family man.

The only thing bigger than Dave’s 6’5” frame was his genuine and obvious love for life. He had a way of seeing the glass as more than half-full––for him, it was nearly always overflowing. His positive attitude and infectious gratitude is something we hope will live on in the hearts of all who held him dear.

Dave is survived by his very best friend and wife of 40 years, Sharon; children, Sarah Robb (Paul Sheldon), Sam Robb (Sarah), and Cassie Cheatham (Garrett); plus his adoring granddaughter, Lucille; parents, Jon and Donna Robb; and a beloved family of many siblings (and siblings-in-law), nieces, and nephews.

Dave’s family welcomes all to attend his Celebration of Life, which will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, at Central United Methodist Church, located at 27 Church Street, Asheville, NC 28801. There will be a reception with the family directly after at the Weaverville Community Center, located at 60 Lakeshore Drive Weaverville, NC 28787. In lieu of flowers, those compelled are encouraged to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in David’s name (kindly direct your notification email to srobb11@gmail.com).

If he were writing this, we have no doubt that Dave would urge you to soak life up with the same sentiment that he used to sign off cards, texts, emails, and voicemails more times than we can count: “Enjoy!”
