Cynthia Sue Smith

ASHEVILLE - Cynthia Sue Smith, age 83, of Asheville passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Mission Hospital.

Ms. Smith was born on August 21, 1941, in Dallas, Texas to the late Emerson Russel and A. Elizabeth Foster Smith. She was a resident of Asheville for the past 24 years. During her working career, Cynthia was employed at Borden Company and then Southwestern Bell/AT&T. She also served as church secretary at a United Methodist Church in Estes Park, CO.

Surviving are her brother, James F. Smith and wife Linda M. Topp; nephews, Carter Emerson Smith, Curtis Noel Smith, and Marshall Edward Smith; niece, Jamie Kirdain; five grandnieces; and four grandnephews.

Ms. Smith will be laid to rest with her parents at Mount Aerie Cemetery in Letts, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution to Fletcher United Methodist, 50 Library Road, Fletcher, NC 28732 or Asheville Humane Society, 14 Forever Friend Lane, Asheville, NC 28806.
