WEAVERVILLE– Charles “Charlie” Edward Duckworth, age 87, of Weaverville died Thursday, October 25, 2018.
Mr. Duckworth was born October 19, 1931 in Haywood County to the late Henry Dayton and Eunice Jones Duckworth; he was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. He retired from Volvo and Yale Material Corp. as plant engineer. Charlie served in the US Navy from 1948 to 1951, stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. He was a member of Longs Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his son, Alan Ray Duckworth; daughter, Deborah Bridges; and step-father, Woodrow Keylon.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Judy Hensley Duckworth; daughter, Beckie Edwards and partner, Lane Ponder; son, Jason Duckworth and partner, Sheila Fultz; grandchildren, Gregory and Carissa Duckworth; and four great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverends Ervin Nash and Dolph Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery, Asheville.
The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the funeral home.
