Carol Suzanne Reagan Pyron

Ms. Suzie Pyron died October 8, 2018. Daughter of the late Carroll Pickens Reagan and Anne Shope Reagan, she was born and raised in Weaverville. Suzie was educated in Weaverville. She then went to college, first at Mars Hill, followed UNC-Greensboro, finally graduating from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. Suzie then attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where she received her Master’s Degree in Physical Education. Suzie initially, upon graduation, worked in a mobile-unit library in Gaffney, SC before securing a teaching position in Charlotte, NC. She taught in the school system there until getting married in 1955 to John Pyron who was also a teacher at Myers Park High School at the time. Suzie and John moved several times due to corporate relocations going from North Carolina, Alabama, Maryland, and California before settling in New Jersey with their four sons. They lived in Colts Neck New Jersey for twenty-five years. Suzie was very active in the community and especially her church, The Colts Neck Reformed Church, to which she was devoted and developed life-long friendships. She was an ardent lover of music, loved singing and was a long-standing member of the church choir, volunteering also for virtually everything that took place at her church. Suzie was also instrumental in the organization of the library in Colts Neck, always having a passion for books and reading. She loved her friends, loved playing card games, doing crossword puzzles in the mornings while enjoying her coffee and simply had a love of life and optimism that was infectious as she walked the walk in her Christian life. Upon her spouse’s retirement, John and Suzie relocated back to North Carolina where they both were born and had roots, first in Lewisville, NC and finally to Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community in Asheville, NC. Suzie was predeceased by her husband John and leaves behind four children and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Son John Jr. of Charlottesville, VA, his daughter Emma, wife Lisa and her two daughters Jennifer and Kimberley, and grandchildren; son Cliff of Savannah, GA, his wife Karen, their daughter Hannah; son Cliff Jr., wife Laura and son Cliff III; son Bill of Gettysburg, PA, his wife Susan, their two sons Wes and Sam; son Judson of Ocean Township, NJ and his two daughters Claire and Emily; first cousins and best friends, Joan Bennett and Jean Haynes. Her memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Health Care Chapel of Deerfield. A graveside service will be held in West Memorial Park, Weaverville at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
