BRIAN IRVING WEAVERVILLE – Brian Irving, age 79, of Weaverville died Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Duke University Hospital. Mr. Irving was born December 28, 1937 in Walthamstow, England and was a resident of Buncombe County for over 12 years. He immigrated to the United States in October 1965. Brian enjoyed walking and loved all sports, especially soccer; favoring his team Tottenham. His strong engineering skills led to his lifelong love of technology. He obtained his mechanical engineering degree and worked in England, Ireland, Long Island, NY and South Florida. He was a son of the late Henry and Lily Tilly Irving and was also preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Willis. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Kim Irving; daughters, Jacqueline T. Irving of Chevy Chase, MD, and Joanne I. Aquilina of Boca Raton, FL; son, John B. Irving of Lake Haiwatha, NJ; sisters, Lee Hankinson, Loraine Thompson, and Pauline Satchell, all of England; grandchildren, Christina Aquilina, Xavier Irving-Smedley, and Jimmy Aquilina; stepdaughters, Lisa Kolodgy, Sheila Canizares, and Shannon Clark; stepson, Donny Watters; and many beloved nieces and nephews. His memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Father Pat Cahill officiating.
