LEICESTER - On Friday, November 7, 2025, Bradley Jordan Michales, surrounded by his family, drew his last breath on earth and opened his eyes to see Jesus. God sent Bradley into this world on July 22, 1985. His time with us was far too short...in our eyes. But God knew on the day that he was born exactly what day he would bring him home. He knew the day that his two young parents walked out of the hospital, bursting with hope and excitement for the life ahead with their little bundle of joy and promise, that 40 years later, they would walk out of that very same hospital, broken and filled with an emptiness that cannot be explained. God knew the day that Bradley and his sweet wife-to-be stood before their family and friends pledging a lifetime of love and loyalty to one another that they would not grow old together. Why would God choose to take someone so filled with love, and so deeply loved from us? While we don't know the answer to this, we do know that God is sovereign and that we can trust His goodness, even when we don't understand. We know that Bradley's time and purpose for this life has been fulfilled, and now our job is to honor the person he was by emulating the beautiful traits that made him so special.
Bradley spent his childhood and young adulthood mostly in Weaverville but had lived the last 9 years in Leicester with his precious wife. Bradley leaves behind a legacy of deep love, genuine kindness and simple joys. He loved Jesus, his family, his friends, the elderly, and all animals, particularly dogs. He enjoyed fishing, old sit-coms and anything nostalgic, baseball cards, old hymns, family games and games of poker. He loved being in the water, especially tubing at Carolina Hemlocks. Life didn't have to be "exciting" to be fulfilling to Bradley. His favorite days were ones of hanging out at home with his wife, trying new recipes or grilling, and watching movies or the birds and cows in their backyard. Kids were drawn to Bradley as he always took the time to play silly games with them and make them feel important. When you spoke to Bradley, you could rest assured that you were being heard. He didn't interrupt, but he listened until you were finished. If you gossiped or spoke harshly about someone else, he was silent. His empathy, compassion, loyalty, and quiet, humble spirit are traits that were admired by all who knew and loved him and will forever remind us of just how we ought to live our lives. Because living our lives like Bradley means living them a little more like Jesus. And now Bradley is with Jesus. He's fully experiencing what we all wonder about. No more sickness, no more pain, no more sorrow. And most importantly, he's seeing, fully knowing and worshiping the God he gave his life to as a child. We're still here, missing him desperately, and as the old hymn says, having "one more reason to go". But knowing that until then, God will give us the strength to go on. We know that our lives will never be the same, but we also know that God is merciful and just like he gave us grace for every hour of Bradley's illness, he'll give us grace for every hour to face life without him.
Left to cherish the memories of his sweet life are Bradley's beloved wife, Bobbie-Ann Webb Michales of Leicester; parents, Paul & April Michales of Weaverville; paternal grandparents, Arthur & Glenda Michales; maternal grandfather, Gary Bass; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; an incredible family of in-laws who loved him deeply and treated him as one of their own; and many cherished life-long friends.
A service to honor Bradley will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 2025, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with Pastors Gary Coates and Gary Fender officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Bradley will be laid to rest beside his beloved "Granny & Papaw", Huey & Bertha Worley in the Maney Branch Cemetery, 79 Maney Branch Road, Weaverville. Following interment, friends are invited to join the family for a meal in the Fellowship Hall of Covenant Church of the Highlands, 540 Reems Creek Road, Weaverville.
Because Bradley loved flowers, they are welcomed, but because he also loved animals and the elderly, donations to a local animal shelter or senior service agency would be honoring as well.
