Betty B. McKinney

BARNARDSVILLE – Betty B. McKinney, age 88, of Barnardsville, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022 in Buncombe County where she had lived all her life.  She was the daughter of the late Nancy Jenkins Brigmon and the wife of the late Verdra V. McKinney.

Mrs. McKinney was also preceded in death by her children, Nancy Carol McKinney, Richard Bruce McKinney and Dianne McKinney, as well as her grandson, Bryan Alan Jackson. 

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Steve McKinney of Weaverville; her daughters, Kathleen Jackson of Goshen, Kentucky and Melissa McKinney Poore of Barnardsville; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many dear friends and relatives. 

Mrs. McKinney was known for her love of cardinals, and she was gifted many cardinal-related items by people who loved her.  Her family will forever think of her when they see cardinals.  She was a mother figure to many in the community and was a dear friend to all. 

Receiving of friends will be 11 am to 12 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville, North Carolina.  A private family burial will be held at Brigmon Family Cemetery.
