Betty Justice Jordan

ASHEVILLE - Betty Justice Jordan, 88, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Solace in Asheville.

Betty was born in Buncombe County, the daughter of the late Clyde Odessa Justice. She relocated to Florida and then to Chicago, IL. She spent many years in Chicago and eventually retired from the City of Chicago Police Department.

She was a Christian woman who was strong in her faith. She was an animal lover with a fondness for her dogs. Although they were all special to Betty, her golden retriever, Brandy, and her Shih Tzu, Susie, were her babies.

Along with her mother, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah “Ike” Jordan in 1986; brother, Dewey Walter Justice; cousin, Louise Rector; Aunt Ann Blankenship and her husband, Hoffman; and her great nephew, Preston Franklin.

Betty is survived by her nephew, Dewey Franklin and his wife, Kristy; five great nieces and nephews; and a cousin, Jenny and her daughter, Lisa.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 8, 2023 in Penland Cemetery, 10 McDaris Cove Road, Weaverville. Rev. Charles English will officiate.
