WOODFIN—Bertha Pegg Hyatt, age 87, of 246 Barton Road, died Monday, January 7, 2013. Mrs. Hyatt was born April 20, 1925, in Buncombe County. She was a daughter of the late Fred and Cora Roberts Pegg and wife of the late Bennie Lee Hyatt who died in 2004. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Rice and husband Howard of Asheville; sons, Robert Lee Hyatt and wife Brenda of Weaverville and Vernie Hyatt of Asheville; a niece that she loved like a daughter, Mary Ann Anderson of Weaverville; sister, Frances Robinson and husband George of Weaverville; brother, Sam Pegg and wife Frances of Weaverville; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 in Elk Mountain Baptist Church with Rev.'s Mike Woodard and Roy McPeters officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Sheba Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
