BARBARA MORROW SEXTON

WEAVERVILLE – Barbara Morrow Sexton, age 82, of Weaverville went to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 30, 2023.

Barbara was born May 24, 1941, in McDowell County, NC and was a resident of Flint, Michigan for 25 years, she returned home in 1983. She was a member of Crossroads Church for 40 years, and more recently attended First Born Church. Barbara worked with her son, Jimmy for 30 years at Jimmy’s Automotive. She loved her flower gardening, spending time at church, singing in the choir and spending time with her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Barbara was the daughter of the late, Ethel Morrow Smith and Manuel Moody; she was also preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Sexton who died in 2007.

Surviving are her daughter, Sondra Vess of Weaverville; son, Jimmy Sexton and wife Susan also of Weaverville; sister, Mary Yoder of Flint, Michigan ; brother, Donald Tucker and wife Ava of Yankton, South Dakota; grandchildren, Bradley (Kelli), Jessica (Dustin), Jeremiah, Timothy (Shaila), Dylan (Abby), Kelsey (Alex); great grandchildren, Reagan, Jax, Briar, McKenna, Myla, Brylee, and Maddox.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 1, 2023, at West Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sexton’s graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2023, in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville. Reverend Jerry Jamerson will officiate.
