Barbara Ann Parham "Bo" Hurst

MARS HILL – Barbara Ann Parham Hurst, age 89, of 170 S. Main Street, died Tuesday, March 28, 2023, in peace with friends by her side.

Ms. Hurst was born September 19, 1933, in Buncombe County where she lived all her life until 2020 when she relocated to Mars Hill.  Barbara "Bo" was a devout Christian and member of Gateway Church and also a vital part of her local community around Weaverville, a caring neighbor on Pinnacle Park Road and, finally, in assisted residence at Mars Hill Manor.  Her parents, Reverend Clyde Parham and Alma Johnson Parham, as well as her loving husband of 41 years, Taft Marion "Junior" Hurst, Jr. preceded her in death.

 Surviving Bo is her sister-in-law, Bonnie Hurst of Oteen.  Also surviving her is niece, Teresa Parham Lane of Atlanta; nephews Kevin Parham of Salisbury, Franklin Mincey of Atlanta, and Phil Mincey of Weaverville.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2023, in the Chapel of Gateway Church, 20 Integrity Drive, Woodfin with Elder Jay Liner officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Instead of flowers, Bo has requested charitable contributions be sent to: Gateway Church, Mission Fund, 20 Integrity Drive, Asheville, NC 28804.
