B. M. "Mickey" Waycaster, Jr.

WEAVERVILLE – B.M. “Mickey” Waycaster, Jr., age 86, of Weaverville, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025.

Mickey was born on January 14, 1939, in Buncombe County where he had lived most of his life. He served in the United States Air Force from 1957 – 1959. He enjoyed hobbies such as gunsmithing and woodworking. He was a lifelong member of the N.R.A. and a former mason. Mickey was an insurance agent with Western-Southern Insurance Company for many years. He loved spoiling his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He was the son of the late B.M. Waycaster, Sr. and Mary Lou Johnson Waycaster and was the husband of the late Janet Greenlee Waycaster who died in 2014. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Carolyn Hurst, and Dorothy Gaddy; and brothers, Jack Ramsey, Bill Ramsey, James Waycaster, and Raymond Waycaster.

Surviving are his daughters, Tzena Waycaster Keyes, and Mary Aleta Waycaster; sons, James Waycaster and wife Kaye, and Johnny Waycaster; sister, Helen Waycaster Riddle and husband John; grandchildren, Heather Rogers and husband Nathan, Lauren Turpin and husband Jake; and great grandchildren, Nyla and Edyn Rogers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Nathan Rogers officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in West Memorial Park, 40 Roberts St., Weaverville.

The family will receive friends from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2025, prior to the funeral service at West Funeral Home.
