ASHEVILLE – Alice Pike Hunter, 97, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Stonecreek Health and Rehabilitation.

A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Ellen Rice and James Pike. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Hunter, in 2011; and daughter, Janice Moore, in 2016.  She was also preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Alice was a Sunday school teacher and member at Deaverview Baptist Church, and formerly employed at Three Mountaineer.

She is survived by a daughter, Sherry Painter and husband Ron of Troy, AL; three sons, Ray Hunter and wife Nancy of Asheville, Terry Hunter and wife, Dana of Arden, and Kevin Hunter and wife Shannon of Weaverville.  Alice is also survived by grandchildren, Michele “Mikki” Lewis and husband Steve, Frank Painter and wife Meredith, Jon Painter and wife Krista, Susan Moore Herron and husband Chris, and Ami Service; and great-grandchildren, Evyn and Izzy Service, Madison Painter, Dalton and Dakota Haney, and Destiny Herron.

A graveside service will be held at West Memorial Park on Monday, June 19th at 11:00 AM with Reverend Dr. Kelvin Moseley officiating.
