Betty Wallin Morgan

WEAVERVILLE – Betty Wallin Morgan, age 90, of Weaverville died Saturday, January 22, 2022.

Mrs. Morgan was born September 19, 1931 in Madison County to the late Henry Grady and Bertie Chandler Wallin, she was a resident of Buncombe County most of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Alene Holcombe, Glyndon Buckner, Lucille Wallin and nephew, Mike Buckner.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and neighbor. She was a faithful member of Morgan Hill Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and choir member. For eleven years she also did some substitute teaching in public schools. She was well known for her delicious banana pudding, corn and okra. She also helped her husband Richard with growing tobacco.

Surviving is her husband of 68 years, Richard C. Morgan, Sr.; daughters, Betsy Morgan, Karen Morgan Hawkins and husband Stan and Lori Morgan; son, Rick Morgan and wife Linda; grandchildren, Jennifer King (Joel), Merissa Brady (Joe), Jordan Forsythe (Taylor), Andrea Mabry (Justin), Richard Clayton, Morgan Clayton, and Mary Grace Morgan; four great granddaughters; three great grandsons; many special nieces and nephews and special cousin, Billy Chandler.

The family will hold a private funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Sprinkle will officiate. Burial will follow in Morgan Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Weaverville.

The family requests that masks be worn for all services.
